WoodCreek Junior High WCJH opened its doors to students for the first time on August 25, 2008. The entire WCJH staff has a passion for teaching students. The student population is composed of diverse learners with differing needs. WCJH offers a curriculum that is rigorous but flexible. Pre-Advanced placement, gifted and talented, and regular academic classes are offered in the areas of math/algebra, science, language arts, and history. Programs also available consist of English as a second language (ESL), reading improvement, corrective reading, special education resources, math labs, and co-teaching. Electives include theater arts, Spanish, art, tech systems, family and consumer science, band, choir, orchestra, yearbook, health, fundamentals of PE, and office aides. Athletics include football, volleyball, basketball, track, tennis, and golf. Extracurricular activities include Student Council, National Junior Honor Society, cheerleading, pep squad, science olympiad, destination imagination, and more. WoodCreek Junior High, in partnership with the community, parents, and students, will provide a safe, positive, engaging learning environment that is devoted to empowering each student to become a productive, responsible, respectful citizen while achieving academic excellence. The faculty and staff at WoodCreek Junior High envision a student-centered, multicultural, diverse learning community where differences are celebrated and innovativeness is promoted through a motivating, challenging, supportive environment. |
