Cylcing in and Around Fulshear, Texas

December 28, 2008

Residents of Cross Creek Ranch will be conveniently placed in a sort of crossroads for cyclists.  Fulshear has long been a pathway and rest stop along the most popular cycling routes for West Houston residents.

On the weekends, cyclists from Katy and surrounding areas are often seen at Dozier's sitting for a meal or grabbing water, and because of the frequency of visiting cyclists, native residents of Fulshear are accustomed to and wary of bikes on the road. These features make Cross Creek Ranch a safe-haven for biking residents, who can now conveniently hop on the trail.

Almost all bike routes in the area follow FM 1093 during a portion of the ride, so Cross Creek residents can literally ride right out of the neighborhood and be on their way.  The setting away from the city also offers a peaceful, scenic countryside to enjoy as riders pass fields and even a variety of ranch animals. Variations of typical routes can range from 20 to 65 miles, depending on the riding level and amount of time a rider has.

Routes feature rides through Brookshire and Katy, and typically pass right by Katy Mills Mall (where many cyclists usually start their route).  For beginners, riders can always ride throughout the Fulshear area and Cross Creek Ranch community for practice or a more brief exercise. For Cross Creek Ranch residents looking for a new bike or equipment, the closest bike equipment retailer is Sun & Ski Sports at Katy Mills Mall, conveniently located along most of the routes! We ask residents to be safe, mind the road laws, and ALWAYS wear a helmet!
