'Celebrate Your Princess' breast cancer awareness walk set for Oct. 26

October 11, 2013

The Fifth Annual "Celebrate Your Princess" breast cancer awareness walk will be held Saturday, Oct. 26, at Cross Creek Ranch.

Sponsored by CHRISTUS St. Catherine Hospital, the event begins at 7:30 a.m. with check-in, followed by a 9 a.m. start.

The fee to register is $25 now through Oct. 24, and $30 on the day of the event. Children under the age of 10 will be admitted for free.

Funds raised at the event will benefit CHRISTUS St. Catherine's Breast Cancer Awareness Fund that promotes community outreach, health, wellness and education.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in the United States, aside from skin cancer. According to the American Cancer Society (ACS), an estimated 230,000 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed among women in the United States this year.

Today, there are about 2.5 million breast cancer survivors living in the United States. Early detection and prevention are critical.

Participants in the breast cancer awareness walk will enjoy a day of fun for the entire family. Nste that pets are welcome but must be on a leash.)

There will be tons of excitement in the Pink Party Kid’s Zone — a bounce house, rock wall, face painters and pumpkin decorating! Walk to honor, to support or strengthen the cause and celebrate after the event at the Pink Pamper Party with local boutiques, spa services (including pet pampering by Waggin' Tails Pet Ranch), shop at the Pink Market, enjoy music, food and much more.
