Relocating to Houston... A Great Choice

May 20, 2009

We have many relocation clients moving to Houston, not just from other parts of the United States, but also from around the world, particularly South America, Europe and Asia. There are a number of Houston highlights that I review with these buyers:

Homes are a great value in the Houston area, with an excellent value per square foot, especially compared with other major cities in the United States. In addition, the Houston area also has shown consistent and steady housing appreciation over the past 10 years and has not been affected by the dramatic rise and fall of home prices as experienced by the majority of other markets throughout the United States.

Choices are abundant, with a variety of established master-planned communities that have enticing amenities. The quality of educational programs also plays a pivotal role in a client's relocation decision. Houston Independent School District is the largest independent school system in Texas and the seventh largest in the nation. The district is just one of 31 independent school districts, however, in Harris County and its surrounding areas, many of which have received awards of excellence from the Texas Education Agency.

Approximately 400 private and parochial schools also serve the area, as well as 25 institutions of higher learning. Junior colleges, universities, law schools, medical schools and a wealth of professional and technical training schools provide endless educational opportunities for adults. Houston has an excellent road system with major highways and loops traversing the city. Toll roads and HOV lanes help cope with peak travel times. And two major airports serve the traveling public, as do numerous smaller airfields situated around the city.
