New Fulshear High School Boasts Outstanding Athletic Facilities

August 05, 2016

Cross Creek Ranch residents will have even more high school athletes to cheer for when nearby Fulshear High School opens the doors to its state-of-the-art competition gym in a few weeks.

This summer, Oschlor Flemming, Fulshear’s campus athletic coordinator and head football coach, has been holding strength-and-conditioning camps, preparing all Chargers for the season ahead.

The camps have allowed student athletes to catch a glimpse of their cutting-edge athletic quarters, which include a weight room in the field house and one in the main building. Both training rooms feature the latest equipment. In addition to the competition gym, there is a smaller gym and a dance studio. The studio will provide practice space for the drill team and cheer squads when not being used for dance classes. A practice pool is in the planning stages. It will be available not only to the competitive swimmers, but will also facilitate the Lamar CISD elementary swim program.

All of the sports available at other Lamar CISD schools will be offered at Fulshear, but it will be one year before the school fields a varsity soccer or basketball team and two years before it can support a varsity football team. As the newest high school in the district, Fulshear will only enroll freshmen and sophomores this year.

Until then, the Charger junior varsity team will light up Charger stadium. Their first game, a scrimmage against Shadow Creek, will be held Saturday, Aug. 13, at Charger Stadium. The Chargers will host their first varsity game in 2018. Cross Creek Ranch residents hoping to gear up in Purple Pride should visit the varsity shop at http://varsityshop.com/lcisd_fulshear_high_school for hats, fleece jackets, shirts and sweatpants.
