Name Our School!

March 01, 2018

Are you good at naming things? If so, Katy Independent School District wants you to help name our new on-site elementary school.

Elementary School #41 is slated to open in August — hopefully with an awesome new name. Visit the district website to download a nomination form. Schools are usually named for persons. Schools also can be named after historic events or places that have had a major significance to the Katy ISD, Katy, Houston, or the state of Texas.

Submissions must be presented in writing with a minimum 250-word statement containing biographical data, significant contributions, and statement of why a school or facility should be named after the person or event. Submissions must be received by 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 6.

Other supplemental materials such as in-depth biographies, news clippings, photos, letters of recommendation and/or other printed resources that would assist the board in making a decision should be sent via the Katy ISD Communications Department.

Later, a naming committee will be formed for the school to consider the nominations. A naming recommendation will be presented to the Board of Trustees for approval.

Forms may be submitted via email to schoolnaming@katyisd.org or by mail to:

Forms also can be hand delivered to the Communications Department at the Education Support Complex, 6301 S. Stadium Lane, Katy, TX 77494

Katy ISD broke ground on Elementary School #41 last May. It joins Randolph Elementary as the second Katy ISD school to be located within our community. The new school will be located at 3701 Cross Creek Bend Lane, Fulshear, TX 77441. The district also plans to build an on-site high school opening in 2020. A new junior high school could open as early as 2019.
