When it comes to education, Lamar Consolidated Independent School District (LCISD) stands out as a district that truly delivers on its motto: A Proud Tradition/A Bright Future. Many young Cross Creek Ranch residents are zoned to schools in this district. Have questions? We have answers.
With 56 campuses and counting, LCISD is one of the largest and fastest growing districts in Texas. But it’s not just about size, Lamar CISD’s commitment to fostering leadership, engagement and academic success has earned it a stellar reputation.
What makes LCISD so successful? It’s the district’s philosophy of putting students first. They understand that students have different needs depending on their stage in life. Case in point: their innovative sixth grade-only middle schools. These specialized campuses help pre-adolescents transition smoothly to secondary education by focusing on their unique academic, social and emotional development.
Lamar CISD teachers are some of the best in Houston. Don’t take our word for it — Niche ranks it among the top 20 districts on its 2025 list of Best Teachers in the Houston area. The district’s teachers average an impressive 10 years of experience, and about 25 percent of them have advanced degrees, proving their dedication to lifelong learning and professional growth.
But the district doesn’t stop there. Lamar CISD invests heavily in its teachers through programs like the INTERACT Academy, which trains more than 150 educators in powerful teaching techniques. The district also provides $10,000 worth of technology to campus teams through this program, ensuring classrooms are equipped with cutting-edge tools. Additionally, the Lamar Educational Awards Foundation (L.E.A.F.) supports innovative teaching by offering grants for creative classroom projects.
Parents are an essential part of any successful school district, and Lamar CISD knows how to keep them involved. Schools across the district have strong Parent-Teacher Organizations (PTOs) that work hand-in-hand with teachers to plan events, host fundraisers and provide much-needed supplies. Many parents go above and beyond, volunteering directly in classrooms to support both students and teachers.
When it comes to education, LCISD schools boast strong curriculums with programs designed to support gifted learners and those that need a little extra help. High school students have access to honors, AP and dual credit courses. Athletic teams are first-rate with many championship titles won over the years. The arts are not neglected, either. The school regularly district receives a Best Communities for Music Education designation from The NAMM Foundation for its outstanding commitment to music education. Clubs and other extracurricular activities are available at every school.
That the district succeeds in its mission is evident in the many awards and accolades it has received, including an impressive A overall rating from Niche as well as being among the top 100 Best School Districts in Texas. Other awards include the prestigious 2025 H-E-B Excellence in Education Large District award for its school board and honors for National Blue Ribbon Schools, Gates Millennium Scholars and more. Lamar CISD and Katy ISD received identical scores of 88 in the Texas Education Agency ratings released in August.
