Doors Open in April

March 27, 2014

With more than 100 model homes open for touring throughout Houston in April, showcase events like the one planned by The Johnson Development Co. don’t get much bigger.

Dubbed last year as “Houston’s Largest Home Tour,” the event has grown for its second annual launch to include nine area master-planned communities, more than 100 model homes and nearly 400 homes ready for move-in. All of the homes will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 6 p.m. Sundays. Admission is free.

“We had terrific response last year from the public eager to see the latest home décor trends,” said Doug Goff, chief operating officer of The Johnson Development Corp. “This year will be even more impressive as we add to our array of housing styles in some of the nation’s top-selling master-planned communities. And for people wanting to move quickly, we have homes ready now throughout Houston.”

Three developments in the Sugar Land/Missouri City area are among the nine communities participating in the month-long tour.

Imperial is a 700-acre development surrounding the historic Imperial Sugar Company refinery in Sugar Land. The mixed-use development will incorporate retail, residential, entertainment and office components to create a premier live-work-play community. Its first residential neighborhoods include patio homes and one- and two-story townhomes. Those visiting Imperial Saturday, April 26, also can sample wine and small bites at the Sip & Stroll of the annual Sugar Land Wine & Food Affair. The 3,700-acre Riverstone community is minutes from U.S. 59 and the Fort Bend Parkway. Riverstone is Johnson Development’s top-selling community, ranked No. 2 in Houston and No. 6 in the nation. Opening in the development this summer is The Club at Riverstone, a 17-acre recreation center and water park.

Nearby Sienna Plantation boasts 10,000 acres, three water parks and five on-site Fort Bend schools. Fort Bend Parkway offers quick access to the Texas Medical Center and downtown. It is Houston’s No. 7 top-selling community and is ranked No. 17 in the nation.

Visitors to Riverstone and Sienna Plantation can enjoy ice cream treats at the community information centers throughout the tour.

Other projects of The Johnson Development Corp. participating in the tour are Cross Creek Ranch and Willow Creek Farms in far west Houston; Woodforest and Harmony in Montgomery County, Fall Creek in northeast Houston and Tuscan Lakes in League City.
