Johnson Development Supports Men Who Cook

December 21, 2016

Johnson Development Corp. is taking on the role of executive chef for the Lamar Educational Awards Foundation’s (L.E.A.F.) tastiest fundraiser — Men Who Cook, happening Feb. 25 at Safari Texas Ranch.

The award-winning developer of Cross Creek Ranch is the title sponsor of the event, which raises money to provide funds beyond the district’s normal operating budget for education programs and activities for students and staff. L.E.A.F. also offers scholarship to graduating Lamar CISD students and to paraprofessionals working on their teaching certificates.

Last year, students at Huggins Elementary — zoned to Cross Creek Ranch — received a hand-held Wi-Fi enabled microscope, the Smart MicroScope iGo, courtesy of L.E.A.F. to assist with their science studies. The foundation has awarded $2,929,355 in grants to teachers since its founding in 2000.

Generous support of neighborhood schools is a hallmark of Johnson Development, which currently has 17 communities under active development in Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth and Atlanta. In addition to Cross Creek Ranch, two more Johnson projects are zoned to Lamar CISD schools: Jordan Ranch in Fulshear and Veranda in Richmond.

Young Cross Creek Ranch scholars attend schools in either Lamar CISD or Katy CISD. Students zoned to Lamar attend Huggins Elementary, Leaman Junior High, Fulshear High and Foster High.
