Lamar CISD Dedicates Two Newest Schools

January 02, 2017

Lamar Consolidated Independent School District recently dedicated Fulshear’s two newest schools, Dean Leaman Junior High and Fulshear High School.

The eagerly awaited schools, both zoned to Cross Creek Ranch, opened their doors in August 2016. The dedication ceremony, held at Fulshear High School, honored both schools’ namesakes — one a member of the Old 300 and the other a generous area benefactor.

Fulshear principal Daniel Ward spoke about the pioneering spirit of the high school’s namesake, Churchill Fulshear Jr., noting his service in the Texas Revolution while still a teenager. Fulshear would go on to be a major land owner and donated the land that would eventually become the city of Fulshear to the railroad.

Lee Leaman, son of Dean Leaman, also spoke during the ceremony, thanking the district for honoring his father by naming a school after him. Dean Leaman was the founder of Allied Concrete, the largest independently-owned ready-mix concrete company in the Houston area, and generously gave both time and money to the community he loved.

Also at the ceremony were Leaman Junior High Principal Mike Semmler, Lamar CISD Superintendent Dr. Thomas Randle, Lamar CISD Trustee Melisa Roberts, Lamar CISD Board President James Steenbergen, Lamar CISD Board Secretary Kay Danziger and Lee Leaman’s brother Ken.

Both campuses are equipped with state-of-the-art athletic and performing arts facilities. The high school offers student athletes the latest strengthening and conditioning equipment in two weight rooms, while both bands practice in band halls featuring orchestra rooms, ensemble rooms and music libraries.

Academically, students prepare for college with Lamar CISD’s rigorous and innovative curriculum, as well as access to honors, pre-AP and AP classes.

Located on Bois D Arc Lane, the schools share a parking lot and are minutes away from highly amenitized Cross Creek Ranch, with homes priced from the $200,000s.
