New Katy High School Names Principal

June 06, 2019

The Katy Independent School District has appointed Ethan Crowell to lead the new Katy ISD high school opening for the 2020-2021 school year in Cross Creek Ranch.

An experienced educator, Crowell is currently the principal of Beckendorff Junior High School. It will be his job to take the wheel of the new high school, yet to be named, and set a course for excellence.

He plans to work together with staff, students and the community to continue to build the legacy of the district by focusing on academic success as well as meeting the social and emotional needs of students.

Crowell began his career as an educator in 2008 when he was hired as a teacher and coach in Pasadena ISD. He taught Spanish and coached soccer for a year and a half before transferring to Fort Bend ISD. He was an assistant principal at Fort Bend’s Clements High School before coming to Katy ISD. In 2016, Crowell was named principal at Beckendorff Junior High School.

He has a bachelor’s degree in communications studies from the University of North Texas, a graduate degree in humanities from the University of Texas at Arlington and a doctoral degree in professional leadership from the University of Houston.

Katy ISD has already broken ground on the $206 million campus that will include the district’s competition natatorium, three main gyms and a performing arts center with seating for 900. It will serve approximately 3,000 students. The high school will be our fourth on-site school.

We congratulate Mr. Crowell on his promotion and can’t wait to see what he has planned for our new school.
