Name Our High School!

June 21, 2019

What’s in a name? When it comes to our new school, everything! You don’t want your kids saying they graduated from High School No. 9, do you?

Katy ISD is soliciting nominations for the naming of our new on-site high school that is slated to open in 2020.

Individuals interested in submitting a name should review the Katy ISD Board Policy CW (LOCAL) for facility naming guidelines and submit a completed High School #9 Naming Form found on the Katy ISD School and Facility webpage. The deadline for submission is July 30.

Schools are generally named for persons or places. A person should have attained some prominence, either locally or nationally, and have made a significant contribution to society. Place names can be based on the subdivision the school is located in, geographical area or the site of a historic event.

Supplemental materials in support of the name must be submitted. These could include in-depth biographies, news clippings, photos, letters of recommendation and/or other printed resources that would assist the naming committee in making a recommendation to the Board.

The form and all supplementary materials may be submitted in the following manner:

  • By email: schoolnaming@katyisd.org
  • By mail:  Katy ISD School/Facility Naming
                   School & Community Engagement
                   P.O. Box 159
                   Katy, TX  77492-0159
  • Personal delivery: Education Support Complex (ESC)
                                    School & Community Engagement
                                    6301 S. Stadium Lane
                                    Katy, TX  77494

Katy ISD broke ground on the high school last year. The $206,074,464 facility will also be the home of the district's competition natatorium. The school will be adjacent to Adams Junior High School opening this fall in Cross Creek Ranch.
